I thought you had a few good suggestions in the Winpdb title thread, but regardless of the name, it's great software. Thanks, Nir.

Indeed, I was initially surprised that many Linux developers gave up on the win prefix and actually dislike it, but conventions are powerful.

I started by insisting on reclaiming the 'win' prefix as you say, but after a while I was not so sure anymore. After all, conventions serve a purpose, don't they?

Wouldn't we be surprised if a program called PyDebugger turned out to be a debugger for C?

Anyhow, the 'd' in Tychod, naively stands for debugger.

I suspected the 'd' refers to defenestration which is which is derived from Latin words meaning to throw something out a window. Obvious in this case we are throwing bugs out the window. It also refers to an act of political dissent which is expressed by using the name 'winpdb'. By reclaiming 'win' as a multi-os name, one is refuting the political domination of Microsoft and their attempts to own many simple words. Together, these two concepts means you are trying to throw Windows out the window because it is a bug we have all suffered with far too long.

I think I'll stop now.
